Our team firmly believes that the input of local communities is essential for the development and integration of a mining project. We also believe that exchanges with the community must continue through the entire duration of a project, so as to maintain open lines of communication with the population.

This is why we began, in January 2014, preparation work to create the advisory monitoring committee that will bring together representatives from various sectors of the host community.

This committee will serve as the preferential link between Mine Arnaud and the host community. Its objectives will be to hear the concerns of the community and to monitor, on a continuous basis, the evolution of the project, the developer's performance and how it delivers on its commitments. As stipulated in the Mining Act, the committee will have the power to issue recommendations and the duty to submit an annual report to the government.

The advisory monitoring committee is independent from Mine Arnaud, and will have complete managerial autonomy and freedom of action. The developer is actively involved in the committee but has no voting rights.A total of twelve organizations and three citizens are represented in the committee. From the onset, several organizations, all legally recognized, were targeted for their expertise in various sectors in relation to the project. Subsequently, a call for candidates was published in local media, and following a formal selection process three citizens were nominated as representatives of the general population, thus completing the committee membership.

The committee is currently composed of representatives from the following groups:

•Cégep de Sept-Îles;

•Sept-Îles Chamber of Commerce;

•Développement économique Sept-Îles;

•Steelworkers Union;

•Health and Social Services Agency;

•Corporation de protection de l'environnement de Sept-Îles;

• Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (vacant);

•Town of Sept-Îles;

•Tourisme Sept-Îles; and

•ZEC Matimek.
